The reception is mixed, but negative opinions prevail. SAO fans and players accustomed to long-term grinding and character development praise the content and atmosphere, while general action RPG players are greatly disappointed by the combat controls, long loading times, complicated maps, bugs, and progression-blocking issues. · 43/100

Best for It is relatively suitable for fans of the original SAO works and anime, players who enjoy collecting characters and experiencing stories, long-term grinding and progression, and challenging combat and DLC content. Conversely, it is not suitable for players expecting fast action, smooth open-world traversal, short and efficient story progression, or a high level of technical polish.

Strengths

Immersive atmosphere and fan service built around SAO’s Underworld and original characters
Enjoyable combat involving chained sword skills and hack-and-slash-style action
Abundant content, character progression, exploration elements, and endgame content

Weaknesses

Performance problems such as long loading times, poor PC optimization, input lag, and crashes
Complicated and inconvenient map design, an unhelpful minimap, and a lack of transportation options
Combat controls feel stiff, and the overall gameplay is considered inconvenient
