Strengths

The atmosphere surrounding the war against the Strogg, along with its body horror and gore, is intense.
The campaign continuing Quake II's Strogg story and its memorable first-person set pieces are highly praised.
The weapons feel satisfying and combat is generally fun, while the single-player campaign offers strong action and immersion.

Weaknesses

The early section before the Strogg conversion is excessively long and slow, with limited enemies and combat.
Vehicle segments drag on and repeatedly draw criticism for disrupting the campaign's flow.
By modern standards, the movement speed, AI, level design, and overall gameplay feel dated.
